Get the estimate (binding or non-binding) in writing. Remember: "order for service" is not a contract. "Bill of lading" is a contract. Truck driver must give you the bill of lading before loading. You also need to sign it.

 

Non-binding estimates. 110 percent rule: if the final expenses exceed 100 percent of the estimate, mover is required to deliver the household goods and collect the additional 10 percent in 30 days.

Basic limited liability insurance coverage is required by law.

Additional moving insurance coverage for "replacement value" covers more.

 

Full value coverage is for full value replacement and repair without deducting any depreciation.
